Temperatures in January reach highs of about 28 degrees at midday and drop to lows of 12 degrees at night. Rainfall is rare at this time of year.
Warm weather clothing such as loose-fitting cotton is recommended, but a jacket for low temperatures in morning and evening is necessary. Sunglasses are essential and hats are helpful.
Please dress modestly as Thailand is a culturally modest country. The following clothing is general frowned upon:
• low-cut dresses
• tank tops, tube tops, and halter tops
• short skirts or dresses with hemlines above the knee
It is especially important to dress appropriately when visiting Buddhist temples or important cultural sites. Proper attire is a sign that you are regarding these places with respect.
